The fireworks begin in St. Paul tomorrow......

1 --- The hypocritical New York Times in an article today said the following: “Groups that oppose abortion rights had been thrilled with Mr. McCain’s selection of Ms. Palin as his running mate, partly because of her opposition to abortion. It is not clear how social conservatives will respond to the latest news, but the initial reaction of several delegates to the convention here was supportive of the family.”

The thugs passing themselves off as journalists followed the above verbiage with: “Asked if Ms. Palin would be able to juggle the demands of the vice presidency with her complicated family life, Mr. (Steve) Schmidt said, ‘She’s been a very effective governor and again I can’t imagine that question being asked of a man.’”

What a group of louses.

First of all, Governor Palin refers to herself as Mrs. Palin.
What the hell does the New York Times know about social conservatives? They have spent years doing nothing but maligning social conservatives or any other type of conservative.

I half expected the denuded punks at the Daily Kos who began circulating a story the newest daughter was in fact the mother of Sarah Palin’s fifth daughter. To pick on a girl and kick at a family they think they have cornered is despicable. Well they picked on the wrong person (or people) in stomping on Sarah Palin’s seventeen year old daughter. They proved they are spineless wimps who have demonstrated no principles.

Lesser people with a political career at stake would have directed her to disappear for a few months to have the baby quietly and give it up to adoption or, worse, have the baby slaughtered in her womb so it would not be an inconvenience.

As pointed out by many, if Sarah Palin was Steven Palin, little would be made about it.

Lots of American families have faced what the Palin family is facing. Some have handled it well, with love and nurturing. Others have destroyed the unborn and ignored the situation, and yet others have simply cut the young expectant mother lose from the family. The Palins have chosen the proper path; support, comfort and guide their daughter for her and the baby’s sake.

Strong families face these crises together and with love and caring. The Palins will come out of this a stronger family unit because Mr. & Mrs. Palin love their children and respect their need for guidance and support during this traumatic period.

The left wing feminists will have their utterances and try to create a smoke screen. To hell with them. They don’t represent middle America or espouse its principles. Sarah Palin does.

Bristol Palin will do what the mother of Barack Obama did, have her baby and hopefully will love and nurture her baby in the same way. Who knows what that child will grow up to be? We do know she will have the support of a strong family.

2 --- Have you seen the evacuation route signs throughout the area? I’ve seen them on Cape Cod to Newport and Boston.

We are watching the evacuation of New Orleans and other areas along the Gulf Coast. Traffic is moving at a snail’s pace. The evacuation began yesterday but moving the entire population even in an open area like the Gulf Coast is nearly impossible. I cannot imagine an evacuation from the Cape or Newport.

Who is nuts enough to live in that region knowing the problems associated with the fact New Orleans is living on borrowed time. Sooner or later, probably sooner rather than later, New Orleans will join Atlantis at the bottom of the sea.

3 --- John Edwards, the poster boy for hypocrisy. Come to think of it, there’s a whole bunch of such examples.

4 --- The Republican platform contains a large number of initiatives conservatives should be very pleased with:

--- On immigration the notion of amnesty is rejected and demands stronger border security and defines immigration as a "national security issue." The document rejects amnesty for illegals and takes the position of most conservatives and the overwhelming percentage of Americans.
---The platform reaffirms the traditional GOP support for a pro-life stance; it strongly opposes gay marriage and abortion, and supports a constitutional amendment to ban both.
---There is a plank which affirms that national security is the first obligation of government.
---The Republican platform strongly opposes gay marriage and supports a constitutional amendment to ban both gay marriage and abortion. Sen. McCain opposes such a ban. The platform calls for a "major expansion" of research involving adult stem cells but opposes embryonic stem-cell research, which Sen. McCain supports. It is doubtful there will be a floor fight over this matter since Veep nominee Sarah Palin.
---This year's platform devotes more space to energy. John McCain has championed offshore oil drilling, but opposes efforts to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska. The platform calls for offshore oil exploration but doesn't mention ANWR, which is supported by Governor Palin. The 2004 Republican platform called for drilling in the Alaskan refuge but didn't bring up offshore drilling.

It is doubtful there will be any type of major confrontation on platform issues. Look for it to be Reganesque ideologically.

5 --- How does the GOP platform compare with the Democrat platform?

---The Democrat is the 180 degree opposite of the GOP stance. They favor amnesty and increases in quotas of immigration. They also oppose the raids that have occurred to remove and deport those here illegally.
---After some blather about offering alternatives, the Democrat platform allows for all abortion known to mankind including partial birth abortion.
---Gay marriage is called for on a national level.
---There is no call for drilling now and drilling here in an effort tto wean us off foreign oil and stem the flow of American dollars flowing overseas.

There is a clear difference between the two parties platforms.

6 --- There are two young, energetic, and reformer governors of note in the United States. Both of them were vetted and strongly considered by John McCain as his veep nominee. Zone is Sarah Palin, whom we now know a great deal. The other is the one who is getting lots of news face time, Bobby Jindal of Louisiana. Like Palin, Jindal is a serious reformer and done many of the same things to weed out corruption in a state inured to corruption. One could say Louisiana is/was a large Rhode Island.

Jindal was elected at the same time Palin was. He too had to overcome entrenched corruption in state government.

I just blew the dust off my old crystal ball and saw a bumper sticker calling for the election of “Palin and Jindal” as president and vice president. I cannot be sure of what year this was supposed to happen the first three numerals were 211?

They’d make such a nice couple to.

7 --- Just a silly question here:

Which candidate, John McCain or Barack Obama would most likely have policies which drove the cost of oil and gas down? This will become a poll question soon.

8 ---
This from The Daily Mail's Don Surber, you’ll laugh your @$$ off:

Obama’s 10 dumbest mistakes.
So far.

The major errors that Democratic Senator Barack Obama that could cost him the presidency.

I know. He’s ahead by 8 points in the Gallup Poll. Good for him. And he beat the Clintons. Again, good for him.

But he keeps making rookie mistakes. Which is why Zogby said the race is a dead heat.

10. Berlin.

9. Landstuhl. What, he’s too good to visit a couple of guys who got shot up defending this country?

8. Over-reacting to being compared to Britney and Paris. We know there’s a difference; they’re the ones without the panties.

7. Not picking Democratic Senator Hillary Clinton as his running mate. Yes, it brings the Bill Clinton baggage. But Hillary brings the party together.

6. Not doing townhall meetings with Republican Sen. John McCain. Bluffs are for calling.

5. Not taking McCain up on the offer to go to Iraq. Going on his own doesn’t count.

4. Not taking federal money. He has to raise $100 million in 2 months just to equal the $84 million that Republican Sen. John McCain collects from taxpayers on Monday (that $100 million is gross, not net, as fund-raising requires money for administration). 2 million donors? Up only 65,000 in July and McCain has 1.7 million donors. Money for Obama is money not sent to the DNC.

3. Losing his sense of humor and bristling at any attack. Americans love their freedom to tell the president to go to hell. Suing to stop a Bill Ayers ad should backfire.

2. Not listening to Karl Rove: Take the summer off campaigning to legislate. That’s called putting the country first.

1. Attacking Republican Gov. Sarah Palin for being inexperienced. While she’ll be a heartbeat away from being president …

Excuse me, Obama will be that heartbeat. If she’s too inexperienced to be veep, he’s too inexperienced to be president.
All I can come up with is, WOW!

9 – Thank God we have learned to tolerate the religious beliefs of others otherwise we would get really, really ticked off:

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - A Pakistani lawmaker defended a decision by northwestern tribesmen to bury five women alive because they wanted to choose their own husbands, telling stunned members of Parliament to spare him their outrage.

"These are centuries-old traditions, and I will continue to defend them," Israr Ullah Zehri, who represents Baluchistan province, told The Associated Press Saturday.

"Only those who indulge in immoral acts should be afraid."

The women, three of whom were teenagers, were first shot and then thrown into a ditch.

They were still breathing as mud was shoveled over their bodies, according to media reports, which said their only "crime" was that they wished to marry men of their own choosing.

No, this is not a spoof. Such a religion of peace. Baloney.
