Whenever we've stayed in Cornwall, we've always had a day trip across the border in to Devon to visit Ilfracombe.
This year, someone greeted us who hadn't been there in previous years. This is Verity, Damien Hirst's 66 foot bronze-clad sculpture. She was hoisted in to position last October. Pregnant Verity, holding a sword aloft and standing on legal books, is meant to be a modern representation of truth and justice.
Ilfracombe is a traditional seaside resort and a little more bustling than the small seaside villages in Cornwall. There's a harbour, a sea front and lots of shops and restaurants. There's also one or two amusement arcades, so we all changed our pound coins for 2p's and had a little fun.
Fish and Chips were the order of the day, they were delicious.
Archie and I sat in the glorious sunshine watching the world go by whilst the rest of the family challenged each other to a game of Crazy Golf, a regular event whenever we visit Ilfracombe.
It was another lovely day out.
