I have written here extensively about my hatred for primers which rages on to this day. I just cannot find a decent one worth my time investing in.
So I didn't hold out much time or faith in the Skin Smooth Pore Perfector from Bobbi Brown. I knew that BB is meant to have really incredibly good skin care but I also knew that the price meant I didn't ever want to fall in love with anything from the range.
I'm not a big believer that price altomatically means how good a product is meant to be as I've had cheaper make up that has out performed the expensive. I'm keen to give a product credit where it is due though. So with that in mind, I tried the cream.
The only other pore perfecting/reducer I have tried has been the Benefit version which is awful. I'm not even going to attempt to be nice about it as it was truly awful. I had it peel, strip and fade all over my skin where it peeled into flakes on my nose. I'm not down for that.
BB was going to have to work even harder after that failed attempt.
I do believe my nose and my chin after years of blackheads is the worst areas. I think you would be hard pressed to find a 30 year old who doesn't have blackheads in those areas. Especially my nose which I can't stand. I've been aware of my giant nose pores since I was thirteen and embarrassed about my knowledge of something so mental since about eighteen.
The primer comes in a cream form which feels incredibly light on the skin. I did notice a massive difference with my pores once my make up was on. They appeared smaller and less visible under a medium coverage foundation.
I am not justifying the price as I truly believe that the BB range is a mental price for skincare. However, I can honestly see how this tiny tube would last forever. It needs the smallest amount of the cream to spread across a tiny area. I will mention again that I am only using this on my chin and nose as it could be far more expensive if your 'area' was a forehead.
I didn't notice any dramatic staying power of the foundation on my nose but I did notice that my pores seemed visibly smaller. BB have followed this with a blur pencil which looks like a concealer pencil designed to take down blemishes. The sad thing about this and the blur pencil is that they are temporary. My pores are much more open again once I remove my make up.
I do wonder though, while the cream shrinks the pores, does this mean you absorb less stuff that makes spots?
So yeah, much underrated. If you are in the market for a primer for pores then this is a strong contender. Just expect you may have to pay extra for it
