So I had a chance to play around with some new Nails Inc gear at House of Fraser recently. I normally love Nails Inc and I was really excited to get the chance......especially since the products in question were special effect nail finishes too.....
LEATHER NAILS
This polish was made famous by Alexa Chung. After she debuted the polish, it reached waiting list status. I didn't try any of the stick on skulls as those things give me the creeps. However I was pleasantly surprised by the leather effect. It looked really good and it stayed on for a few days. It came off easily enough too. The set sells for about £21 which includes your leather nail finish and some skulls.
GLITTER SETS
This looked gorgeous, it was sparkly, it was really gorgeous to play around with. However, once it was on my nails it caused no end of hassle. The glitter is really sharp and jagged. I snagged tights, caught it in my hair and it caused a real mess getting it onto my nails. I had to use three baby wipes to get all the excess glitter off my hands. It comes in three colors - dark blue, black and white. I tried all three and I have to say I prefered the dark blue. The other issue was caused by me trying to get the varnish off. It took several attempts, a lot of remover and actually hurt my nails to remove. It does look really effective when its on but my god, it is not something to do if you need to get it off in a hurry. It is on sale for £20 which includes glitter, varnish, top coat and a nail brush.
FEATHER EFFECT
The feather effect looked really pretty. I popped the finish over a nude shade and it reminded me of a china vase when dry. The only issue with this polish was trying to get it off. If I thought the glitter was bad then this was impossible. It really really hurt and took hours to remove properly. It did hold very well though and didn't chip. It retails for £11
I still love Nails Inc and I would be interested in picking up the feather effect varnish again. I should have known better that glitter is a bugger to get off. However the varnishes do have really great staying power and a few days later the varnish was still glittering like it was brand new. They have also launched a new limited edition concrete effect as well. I didn't get a chance to play with that but I will!
I was impressed to discover a good birthday gift idea too. If you log onto the website then you can create a couture bottle of Nails Inc for £20. You can select a fancy lid, your color, name it and then customise the box for a friend!
Just make sure you have some strong nail varnish remover!
